History
The Cooksey Group (TCG), founded in Chicago by Charles T. Cooksey, has merged diverse pursuits into an entity positioned for dynamic success in the 2010 decade and beyond. TCG has been created with a foundation based in consulting, entrepreneurial, and corporate experience spanning more than 30 years. That experience has been developed with ATT (formerly Southwestern Bell Corporation), Toyota, Bell South, Zurich, IBM, Staples, Southwest Airlines, CNA, political candidates, Not-for-Profit agencies, and many others.
Cooksey, born and raised in Wichita, KS, attended Langston University which is located in central Oklahoma. He graduated with a B. A. in Business Administration/Accounting and immediately was hired by Southwestern Bell as an IT database administrator (DBA) for their huge accounting and inventory systems. While with Bell, Cooksey also pursued modeling and creative personal projects in entertainment. Eventually, he left the corporate structure to become an entrepreneur as a DBA consultant to major multi- national corporations while still pursuing entertainment projects. In the process, he developed communications skills and experience, strong presentation abilities, and significant opportunity and revenue sourcing skills.
Cooksey’s varied entertainment background benefits TCG. He has created, produced, and promoted events that have included concerts featuring jazz, rap, pop, and gospel genres; comedy competitions and shows featuring nationally recognized and emerging comedians; a theatre production, A Horse of a Different Color, that toured the Midwest including Chicago (the Chicago Sun Times gave it a favorable review); and various fine art shows including Artistic Affairs, a monthly presentation of visual and performing artists. The event was featured in the Chicago Tribune Magazine.
Cooksey has performed client representation services for fine artists and a professional sports client. He represented Jan Spivey Gilchrist, an internationally renowned fine artist and children’s book illustrator from Chicago. Cooksey promoted her fine art efforts between 2003 and 2005.
As a sports agent Cooksey represented Chris Harrison, a 1984 NBA draft choice of the Utah Jazz.
Cooksey's communications experience has included sales, marketing, and PR roles. Sales products/services have included event sales, fine art, corporate sponsorships, IT database administration services, real estate, and high-end residential windows and entry systems.
Marketing and PR functions include creating, distributing, and placing print, radio, TV, and Internet ad copy and commercial spots; creating and distributing newsletters and organization collateral; preparing and issuing press releases and media kits; and website planning and design.
